Your college’s settings
Settings, on the bar, is where a college administrator looks after the college itself rather than any one class. Teachers and students do not see it. It has a tab for each part, and a tab with nothing on it for you is not shown.
College profile
The college’s name, address and phone number, and how many students it expected when it signed up. Correct them here rather than writing to us. Renaming the college changes the name everywhere it is shown at once, and a name another college already has is refused. The number of students expected is a note and limits nothing.
People
Everybody at the college, with a search and a filter by account type, and who runs it set out above the list. This is where a member of staff is made a college administrator, which is how a college gets a second one. Only staff can hold it, and you cannot stand yourself down, so the college is never left with nobody running it. Each change is written to the admin log.
Authentication
How staff sign in, and separately how students do: a code emailed to them each time, or a password each person sets the first time. One or the other for each, never both, so nobody is set to a way in they cannot use yet. Continue with Google can be allowed as well, for either. The tab also says which currency the college is billed in; ask us to change it.
AI assistance
Shown when AI assistance is offered to your college, for staff, for students or both. Your own switch for each turns it on or off at your college, and you can choose where the models you use are hosted, unless we have set it for you. A student’s Ask AI and marking always stay on UK-hosted models, since they read a student’s own work. Whether a particular task allows Ask AI is set on the task.
When we offer AI to your college it starts switched on for that group, unless you have already switched it off here, and you can turn it off at any time. Once you have saved a switch either way, offering it again never changes it.
VLE

Billing
What your college is billed, month by month, newest first. The rate shown is today’s, applied to every month, so the table is what the bill would be at today’s price and not a record of what was invoiced. Once the free year is over and the college is invoiced yearly, a card shows the year so far: what it was invoiced on, the average number of students so far, and what the year end would add or take off. Where paying by PayPal is offered, this is also where the monthly subscription is set up; the card is entered on PayPal’s own pages and never reaches us.

- Can a teacher change these?
- No. Settings is for college administrators. A teacher’s own settings, such as colours, language and notifications, are on their profile.
- Can we change how long students’ apps may run?
- Not from this page. Those limits are set by us, per college, and we can lower them for yours on request.
