Two ways to see a week of work
The IT manager asks two questions. "When does each job start and end?" And, "What is everybody doing right now?"
A Gantt chart answers the first. A Kanban board answers the second.

A Gantt chart shows time
A Gantt chart has the tasks down the side and the days along the top. Each task has a bar from its start to its end.
You can see which tasks overlap, how long the project is, and when each milestone falls.
Worked example: the room as a Gantt chart
| Task | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Day 8 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A Order PCs | ## | ## | ||||||
| B Prepare room | ## | ## | ## | |||||
| C Install PCs | ## | ## | ||||||
| D Wire the room | ## | ## | ## | ## | ||||
| E Test | ## |
