What an information flow diagram shows
An information flow diagram shows who passes information to whom. It has only three parts.
A box is a plain rectangle for a person, team or system. An arrow, drawn thick, shows the direction. A label names the information on the arrow.
It can include things that are not digital, such as a phone call or a printed note.

Note
The technician sends an outage report to the IT manager. The manager sends an impact summary to the head teacher and a staff notice to all staff. The head teacher answers with a go ahead. Notice a person can both send and receive.
