A new help desk system
A college builds a system for staff to report broken equipment. Before anyone uses it, someone has to check it.
But what do they check, and when? There is a different test for each stage of the build.

I can choose the right test for a stage of a build and give its benefit and drawback.

Concept and unit testing
Concept testing happens before anything is built. You show an idea or a drawing and ask, "Would this help you?" It is cheap and fast. But people give opinions, not proof.
Unit testing checks one small part alone. For the help desk, that could be the form that saves a ticket. It finds faults early and shows exactly where. But it cannot show that parts work together.
