SESP pre-task: Six stages, one project

This is the first page of the lesson. Read it and have a go at the activities. The rest is in the full lesson.

35 minutes

A project is a story with six chapters

You will not do the project in one go. It comes in stages, and each stage makes something a marker can read.

If you know the six chapters before you start, nothing in the middle comes as a surprise.

By the end of this lesson

Note

I can name the six stages of a project and say what each one makes.

Important

Your real tasks come from the exam board, with their own briefs and templates. Everything here uses invented organisations. Ask your teacher how the real tasks are set, how long you get and what help is allowed.

What each stage makes

Task 4aA working simulationDoes it meet the brief?

Three projects, one shape

There are three projects: Digital Infrastructure and Network Cabling, Cyber Security and Digital Support Technician.

All three follow the same six stages. Task 1 is the same in all three. The middle tasks change: network faults and a network design, security weaknesses and a security plan, or support tickets and a needs analysis.

The lesson goes on

7 more parts of this lesson are in the full curriculum, with the tasks, the final check and the labs. A college account gives your students all of it.
