System recovery

System recovery fixes a system in its current state. It tries to repair what is broken, such as damaged start-up files. It keeps all files and folders.

It is the gentle step. Try it first.

System restoration

System restoration is applied when recovery fails. It reverts the system to a previous state, such as a restore point from before the update.

It is the bigger step. Changes made after that point, such as new programs or settings, are lost.
