1 · Container lab
Splitting a big file across machines (HDFS)
I can explain how a file is split and processed in parallel.
Read the lesson2 · Container lab
Running a data job on many machines (Spark)
I can express a data job as a Spark pipeline.
Read the lesson3 · Container lab
Passing events between programs (Kafka)

Worked in a real lab
Every lesson of this module is worked in a lab started for you alone. The labs it uses:
- Hadoop lab: HDFS and MapReduce, with a file to put in and a word count to read
- Apache Spark lab: learn DataFrames and Spark SQL on a CSV file, with the Spark UI
- Kafka lab: topics, producers, consumers, partitions and offsets in the browser
- Valkey lab: learn a Redis-compatible key-value store with keys, expiry, lists and counters
