AC 5.4: Keeping records and a way back

This is the first page of the lesson. Read it and have a go at the activities. The rest is in the full lesson.

60 minutes

Who changed that column?

On Tuesday a monthly sales report shows odd numbers. The analyst asks: who changed something last week?

Nobody knows. There is no record. It takes three days to find the fault, a column that was renamed.

A good change leaves a trail, and a safe way back.

Document the change process

Every change leaves records.

Requirement traceability: each need can be followed to a decision, with the person responsible and the person accountable.

Keep information up to date. Record all decisions and retain the change documents. Write user training manuals, so users know how to use the new system.
