Part A
Terms that apply to everything
1. Who We Are and What These Terms Cover
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to this website and to every service provided through it by Mitsuru Technologies Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England & Wales under company number 16755264. That means:
- software engineer career coaching, which we no longer offer, for anything booked before we stopped (Part B);
- the free Learning Platform call, for a school or college looking at the platform (Part C);
- the learning platform used by a school, college, or other organisation for its students, including its free year and its price (Part D);
- MitsuruTech ColdStart, the free coding competition for enrolled post-secondary students (Part E); and
- use of the website itself, including the Python playground and the learning platform (clauses 3 and 4).
By booking a call, making a payment, or using the website, you (“you”, and where you have booked a service, “the Client”) agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not book, pay, or use the website.
2. Which Part Applies to You
Part A and Part F apply to everybody. Beyond those, only one of the middle parts will normally concern you:
- Part B if you booked career coaching, or the free coaching discovery call, before we stopped offering it.
- Part C if you are booking the free Learning Platform call, or asking us about the platform for your school or college.
- Part D if your school, college, or other organisation uses the learning platform with its students, or you are deciding whether it should.
- Part E if you have registered for MitsuruTech ColdStart. Nothing is bought there, so most of what Part A says about booking and paying does not reach you.
Where a clause in Part B, Part C, Part D or Part E says something different from Part A, the more specific part wins for that service. The services in Parts B to E are offered differently and on different terms, which is why they are set out separately rather than merged into one account that would be true of none of them.
3. Using This Website
You may use this website for your own information, learning, and dealings with us. The Python playground runs the code you submit in an isolated, short-lived sandbox, and is provided for learning and experimentation only. You agree not to use the website or the playground to:
- attack, scan, overload, or gain unauthorised access to any system, ours or anybody else’s;
- mine cryptocurrency, send bulk email, host content, or otherwise treat it as general-purpose compute;
- run or upload anything unlawful, or anything containing malware; or
- store personal data about other people, or confidential information belonging to a third party.
We may limit, suspend, or withdraw access where use of the website threatens its availability or security, or breaches this clause. The website is provided as it is, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of error.
4. Accounts and Signing In
Signing in is by a code sent to your email address, or by a passkey you have registered. You are responsible for keeping your email account and your devices secure, and for what is done under your account. Please tell us promptly if you think somebody else has access to it.
Where you use the learning platform as a student of a college, that college holds the relationship with us: it decides who has an account, what work is set, and which of its staff may see it. Its staff can open the work you submit through the platform, and every such access is recorded in a log that you can read in full yourself: there is deliberately no separate staff-only version of it. Who is responsible for your personal data in that arrangement is dealt with in clause 10.
5. Eligibility and Authority to Book
To book or pay for any service, you confirm that you:
- are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract;
- are booking either as a consumer for yourself, or on behalf of an organisation you have authority to commit; and
- have given accurate and complete information for the purposes of booking and delivering the service.
The Learning Platform call is booked with an organisation’s own email address, because that address is what tells us an organisation is asking. We may decline a booking made with something else.
Students on the learning platform. The age requirement above applies to booking and paying for a service. It does not apply to using the learning platform as a student of a college, where there is nothing for you to buy and no contract for you to enter into: your account exists because your college arranged it, under its agreement with us, and your college is responsible for obtaining any consent needed for a student under 18. How we handle a student’s data, including a student’s who is under 18, is set out in clause 10 and in our Privacy Policy.
Entrants in MitsuruTech ColdStart. The age requirement above does not apply to entering the competition either, and for a different reason: there is nothing to buy and no college behind you, so the rule that applies is the one in clause 31. You must be 16 or over to register. If you are under 18 you may enter and win, and a parent or guardian has to agree before a prize is paid.
6. Booking, Prices and Payment
Before you place an order we will show you the price of the service, a description of what is included, how to pay, and these Terms, in a format you can save or print.
What we offer falls into one of three cases, and the page you book from says which:
- Paid when you book. The fee is taken at the time of booking, by card or through PayPal. A call we have priced says its price on the page you book it from.
- Free. No fee at all, no card details taken, and no invoice afterwards. The Learning Platform call is the usual example, see clause 21.
- Settled with you afterwards. Nothing is taken online, and the fee is agreed with you separately once we know what is involved. Coaching sessions themselves work this way, see clause 15.
The learning platform is different from all three: it is charged per student after a free year, and Part D is the whole of how that year and its price work.
Prices shown to consumers include VAT. We do not add a surcharge for using a particular payment method beyond the cost we incur in accepting it. The contract between us is formed when we confirm your booking by email, and we send you a copy of these Terms and a summary of your order at that point.
7. Rescheduling, Missed Appointments and Calls We Cannot Make
Move it as often as you need to. There is no limit on how many times you may reschedule, and it costs nothing: anything you have already paid moves with the booking. Please give us at least 48 hours’ notice where you can, so the time can go to somebody else.
A moved call may be with somebody else. Our people hold their own diaries, so the person free at your new time may not be the one who was free at your old one. We will tell you who it is. If the person available is not right for what you are preparing for, or we cannot offer a time that suits you, say so and we will refund what you have paid in full.
If you do not attend a booked appointment and did not tell us beforehand, it is treated as delivered: the time was held for you and the person taking it was there. Get in touch and we will normally offer you another time as a gesture of goodwill, though we do not have to, and clause 16 may in any event give you a statutory right to a refund.
If we cancel, or cannot attend, you will be offered another time or a full refund of anything you paid for it, whichever you prefer.
8. Service Standard
Where you deal with us as a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies: we agree to perform the services with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time where no date is fixed, and for a reasonable price where none was agreed in advance. If we fail to meet that standard, you may be entitled to a repeat performance of the services or a price reduction under the Act. Where you deal with us as a business, we owe you the equivalent duty to use reasonable care and skill, and clause 23 sets out what else differs.
9. Confidentiality
Information you share with us on a call, or in preparing for one, is treated as confidential and is not disclosed to third parties, except where we are required to do so by law or to protect someone’s safety.
You should not share confidential information belonging to your employer, your client, or any other third party, including proprietary source code, internal documents, credentials, or commercially sensitive material. We do not need access to your systems and will never ask you for a password. We accept no responsibility for a disclosure of that kind made by you.
10. Data Protection (UK GDPR)
This clause is a summary. Our Privacy Policy is the full account of what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it, and it is the document to read if you want the detail.
For the personal data you give us when you enquire, book, pay, or take a call, we are the data controller, and we process it in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Students on the learning platform are different. Where a college uses the platform for its students, the college decides who has an account, what work is set, and who may see it. For that student data the college is the data controller and we are its processor: we act on its instructions, under the agreement we have with it, and we do not use student work for our own purposes. A student wanting to exercise a right over that data can ask us and we will pass the request on, but it is the college that answers it. We remain the controller of the account records we need to run the platform at all, such as the address a sign-in code is sent to.
What we collect and why: your name and contact details; for coaching, your employment and career background and what you share during sessions; for a Learning Platform enquiry, your organisation, your role there, how many students it teaches, and what you are asking about. We use it to deliver and improve the services (legal basis: performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you have made), to meet legal obligations (legal basis: legal obligation), and, where you have opted in, to send you marketing communications (legal basis: consent, which you may withdraw at any time).
Retention: we keep your data for as long as needed to deliver the services and meet legal and accounting requirements, normally no more than 6 years after our contract ends, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Third parties: we may share data with service providers who help us deliver the services, for example scheduling, payment processing, email, and video conferencing. Where a provider is located outside the UK, we ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Your rights: you may ask us to give you access to, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, object to processing, or provide a copy of it in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
11. Our Materials and Intellectual Property
Any frameworks, templates, guidance, exercises, course material, or written outlines we provide remain our intellectual property, and are licensed to you for your own use, or for the internal use of the organisation that commissioned them. They may not be reproduced, resold, or distributed outside that organisation without our prior written permission. The content of this website is ours or our licensors’ and is protected accordingly.
12. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
Subject to the paragraph above, we provide guidance and advice only, and we are not responsible for decisions you or your organisation take on the strength of a discussion with us, or for outcomes resulting from your own actions. A discovery call is a conversation based on what you tell us during it, not an audit, a security assessment, a procurement review, or a compliance review, and it should not be relied on as one.
Subject to the first paragraph of this clause, our total liability to you in connection with a service is limited to the amount you paid for the service giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or lost business opportunity. Where the service was provided free of charge, our liability in connection with it is limited to £100.
Part B
Career coaching (no longer offered)
We no longer offer career coaching. This part stays for anybody who booked a coaching call or session before 5 October 2026, and governs those bookings, their cancellation and any refund, exactly as it did when they were made. Nothing can be booked under it now. If you are here about the Learning Platform, Part C is the part that applies to you, and the call there is free.
13. What Coaching Covers
The coaching services may include support with:
- Software engineering career development
- CV and LinkedIn review
- Technical interview preparation
- System design interview preparation
- Job search strategy
- Career progression planning
- Career transition advice
The specific coaching package, number of sessions, duration, and price will be confirmed at the time of booking. The coaching approach is tailored to your background, goals, and requirements, but remains general career guidance rather than a guaranteed programme of results, see clause 18.
14. The Coaching Discovery Call (free)
The coaching discovery call is a short online call, currently 30 minutes, offered before your first coaching session so we can understand your background, goals, challenges, and expectations, and so you can decide whether our coaching is right for you. You may book one directly on this website without buying a coaching session.
There is no fee
The call is free. We take no payment for it, ask for no card details, and send no invoice afterwards. Booking one puts you under no obligation to buy a coaching session, and the rate for any session you do go on to book is the rate published on our coaching page, with nothing added and nothing deducted.
You may cancel or move the call at any time from your own bookings page, for any reason and without telling us why. As nothing has been paid, there is nothing to refund.
Booking links and appointment details are provided when you book. Rescheduling and missed calls are dealt with in clause 7.
15. Coaching Sessions, Rates and Payment
Coaching is charged by the hour, at the published rate for your level of experience, except for the most senior band, which is quoted once we know the role. The rates are on our coaching page, and the one that applies to you is confirmed with you before any session is booked.
Sessions themselves are not paid for on this website. The fee is settled with you separately after the discovery call, and a session is confirmed when we say so by email.
16. Your Right to Cancel (14-Day Cooling-Off Period)
Because this contract is concluded at a distance (online), you have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel your order without giving any reason. You have 14 days, beginning the day after the day on which the contract is concluded, which is the day we send the confirmation described in clause 6. This right belongs to consumers: if you are booking on behalf of an organisation, see clause 23.
To cancel, contact us using the details in clause 41, or complete and return the Model Cancellation Form in Appendix A. You do not need to use the form, but it must be clear that you are cancelling.
If your call or session is scheduled within the 14-day cancellation period
At the time of booking, we will ask you to expressly confirm, by ticking a separate, unticked checkbox, shown only when the date you have chosen falls inside your cancellation period, that:
- you request that your coaching session begins before the 14-day cancellation period ends; and
- you understand that once a session has been fully delivered, you will lose your right to cancel and receive a refund for that session.
If you do not tick this box, we will not schedule your session until the 14-day period has passed, unless you separately request an earlier date.
If you cancel after a session has started but before it is complete
You will be charged a proportionate amount for the coaching actually supplied up to the point you told us you were cancelling, calculated by reference to the total price of your package. The remainder will be refunded to you within 14 days of us being informed of your cancellation.
If you did not tick the box described above, or we did not properly explain your cancellation right to you
You owe nothing for any session delivered during the cancellation period, and you are entitled to a full refund, in line with our obligations under the 2013 Regulations.
This right to cancel does not remove your other statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, see clause 8.
17. Refunds Outside the Cancellation Period
Once your 14-day cancellation right has ended, or you have lost it under clause 16 because a session was fully delivered with your consent, refunds are provided at our discretion, save where the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you a right to a repeat performance, price reduction, or refund because the services were not performed with reasonable care and skill, see clause 8.
18. No Guarantee of Career Outcomes
Career coaching provides guidance, advice, and support based on your individual circumstances. We do not guarantee job offers, successful interviews, salary increases, promotions, or any specific career outcome. Results depend on many factors outside our control, including your skills, experience, preparation, effort, and the wider job market.
19. What We Ask of You as a Coaching Client
To get the most value from coaching, you agree to:
- provide accurate information about your background and career goals;
- actively participate during coaching sessions; and
- complete any preparation activities or information requests provided before sessions.
Part C
The Learning Platform call
For a school or college looking at the Learning Platform. This part is about the free call itself. What you get if you go on to use the platform, including the free year and the price, is Part D. This is a different service from career coaching, and nothing in Part B applies to it.
20. The Learning Platform Call
The Learning Platform call is an online call, currently 60 minutes, about the MitsuruTech Learning Platform: what you teach, what you use now, and whether the platform would help. It is booked on this website with your organisation’s own email address, and it is taken by an engineer rather than by a salesperson.
On the call we ask what you teach, how your students work now, and what has prompted the enquiry, and we give you a straight view, including “this is not the right fit for you” where that is the honest answer.
The call is a conversation, not a professional assessment. What we say on it rests on the information you give us during it, is general in nature, and is not a security audit, a compliance review, a procurement review, or advice on your particular circumstances. Clause 12 applies to it.
We ordinarily offer one call per organisation. We may decline or limit further bookings, in particular where what is being asked for is free consultancy rather than a conversation about the platform.
21. Free, and What That Means
The Learning Platform call is free. There is no fee, we take no card or bank details in order to book it, and no invoice follows it. Nothing said on the call, and nothing we send you after it, obliges you to buy anything.
Because nothing is paid for it:
- there is nothing to refund, and the 14-day cancellation right in clause 16, which is about paid distance contracts with consumers, has nothing to operate on here;
- you may cancel or move the call at any time at no cost, and we ask only that you tell us as far ahead as you reasonably can, so the time can go to somebody else; and
- we may cancel or move it too, and will offer you another time if we do.
Neither of us is under any obligation to go further after the call. Deciding against the platform costs you nothing, and is not held against a later enquiry.
22. After the Call
If it is worth going on with, we may follow the call with a short written outline of what using the platform would involve and what it would cost. That outline is provided free and without obligation. It sets out what we would propose, it is not an offer capable of acceptance, and it commits neither of us to anything.
If you go on to use the platform, Part D governs that, including the free year, the price, how students are counted and how it is charged. Nothing in this Part fixes what you pay, and no figure or period in Part B applies to you.
These Terms continue to apply to the call itself and to your use of this website. Where a signed order or written agreement for the platform says something different from these Terms, that document wins for that agreement.
23. Business Customers and Consumer Rights
Where you book on behalf of a school, college, company, charity, or other organisation, you are a business customer rather than a consumer. The consumer protections referred to in Part B, including the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are rights given to consumers and do not apply to you.
We still owe you the duty to perform the services with reasonable care and skill, and the rest of these Terms applies to you in full, including clause 9 on confidentiality, clause 10 on data protection, and clause 12 on liability.
If you are self-employed or a sole trader booking coaching for your own career rather than for your business, we treat you as a consumer and Part B applies to you.
Part D
The learning platform: the free year and the price
For a school, college, or other organisation using the learning platform with its own students. A student pays nothing and buys nothing, see clause 5: this part is about what the organisation pays.
24. The Platform, and Who This Part Applies To
This part applies where an organisation uses the learning platform for its students. The agreement about paying for the platform is between us and the organisation, which is a business customer, so clause 23 applies to it: a student enters into no contract, see clause 5, and how a student’s data is handled is clause 10 and our Privacy Policy.
One thing is counted in this part, and it is students. The price, clause 26, and the free year’s cap, clause 25, both count students only: a staff account is never charged for and never counted against a cap, however many an organisation has.
25. The Free Year
The platform starts with a free year: 365 days, with up to 50 students, and no payment method needed to begin. During that year nothing is charged at all, and a year that ends without an order turns into nothing: no bill follows it, and no card or account details were taken that could be charged.
The 365 days run from the day the organisation is created. An academic year does not begin on the same date everywhere, so on request we will move the end of the free year to line up with yours, at no charge and without shortening it.
The trial is not lost by ordering early. Whether you order on day one or on the last day, your first 365 days are free from the day you start, and a paid year begins when the trial ends. An organisation that orders before the decision date agreed with us when its trial began is given 20% off its first year.
26. The Price, and How It Is Charged
The platform is priced per student, per year, excluding VAT, and a staff account is free, however many there are. A paying organisation pays £300 a year for its first 50 students, however few it has, and each student after that is priced in the band they fall into, so the rate only ever falls as an organisation grows:
- £6 a year for each of students 51 to 100 (£7.20 including VAT at 20%).
- £5.75 a year for each of students 101 to 250 (£6.90 including VAT at 20%).
- £5.50 a year for each of students 251 to 400 (£6.60 including VAT at 20%).
- £5.25 a year for each of students 401 to 1,000 (£6.30 including VAT at 20%).
- £5 a year for each of students 1,001 to 3,000 (£6 including VAT at 20%).
- £4.75 a year for each of students 3,001 to 5,000 (£5.70 including VAT at 20%).
- £4.50 a year for each of every student from the 5,001st (£5.40 including VAT at 20%).
So an organisation of 250 students pays £300 for its first 50, then £6 a year for each of the next 50 and £5.75 for each of the 150 after those, £1,462.50 a year in all; a larger one pays each band in turn, down to £4.50 a student in the last. VAT is added to prices in pounds sterling at the prevailing UK rate and our invoices itemise it.
Each country has a price of its own. The table below gives the price for every country we sell in, in that country’s currency where we bill in it and in US dollars otherwise. Each is a price of its own and not a conversion from pounds, so a movement in exchange rates changes nothing anybody has been quoted. Every price has the same free year, the same discounts and the same starter for the first 50 students, and every price falls at the same points: the rate for each student above the first 50 steps down at the same sizes as the bands set out above, each student being priced in the band they fall into, and the table gives every price’s rate in each band. Countries charged the same price share a row. A country not in the table is charged the price for the United States. VAT is added only to prices in pounds, as stated above; no tax is added to a price in any other currency.
| Countries and currency | The first 50 students | Students 51 to 100 | Students 101 to 250 | Students 251 to 400 | Students 401 to 1,000 | Students 1,001 to 3,000 | Students 3,001 to 5,000 | Students 5,001 and above |

An organisation is billed the price of the country it signed up from, in that country’s currency, or where we cannot tell the country, the price for the currency of the language it signed up in. Its own Settings and Billing pages show the currency. We will move an organisation to another of these currencies on request, at that currency’s own price (the first row for it in the table); the change applies from the next bill and never to one already issued. We do not open an organisation in a country under a comprehensive United Kingdom, United States or European Union embargo.
Everything the platform does is included in that price, and the things that cost us per use are offered on a fair-use basis: AI help for staff and the AI tutor for students; deploying apps, with their databases and cloud stacks; labs of containers and Ubuntu VMs; running and testing code. Included and fair use: metered and capped per person by the platform’s own limits, which a college may raise at its own cost. What those limits are is stated in the platform’s manual; an organisation that wants more than they allow may buy more, at a rate agreed with us in writing, and we never raise a limit on an organisation’s behalf and bill it afterwards.
A year is invoiced once, in advance, on the students it starts with, and settled at its end on the students it had. The year runs from the day it begins, which for an organisation coming off its trial is the day the trial ends, and we will align it to your academic year on request. The invoice is for the students on the platform on that day. At the end of the year we price it again on the average number of students across it: each student account is counted for the days it existed and was not suspended, staff never, the total is divided by the days in the year, and that average is priced as this clause sets out, the first 50 still one price, with any discount the invoice carried. Students who joined during the year are charged for the days they were there, and students who left are credited for the days they were not. The difference is added to the invoice for the next year or taken off it, and refunded if the organisation does not renew. An organisation is never asked to pay twice for the same student on the same day. Your organisation’s own Billing page shows the count a year was invoiced on, its average so far and the adjustment as it stands, so you can check an invoice against your own records.
An organisation that commits to three years at once is given 10% off each of them, and the price it agreed does not change for those three years, whatever clause 28 would otherwise allow.
We bill by invoice under a payment plan agreed with us in writing, which for most schools and colleges is a purchase order, or through PayPal against the payment method you have added. By card the same annual price is taken a twelfth at a time, each month on the students the platform held that month, each counted for the days their account existed and was not suspended and rounded to the nearest penny, so a card-paying organisation is never charged for a student who has left. If a payment fails we will tell you and try again. Where payment continues to fail, we may suspend or limit your organisation’s use of the platform until the balance is settled, and clause 39 also applies. Your material remains yours throughout: tasks and quizzes are ordinary files, and you may take copies of them at any time, including while payment is outstanding.
27. Ordering, and the Student Cap
During the free year, clause 25, an organisation that has not ordered may hold up to 50 students. It is the whole platform, not a cut-down one, and the fair-use limits in clause 26 apply to it as they do to a paid year. The free year is for an organisation signing up with its own institutional address; we may decline it to an organisation that appears to be splitting itself into several to obtain more than one.
Ordering removes the cap, and means one of two things: adding a payment method through PayPal, or agreeing a payment plan with us in writing. Ordering does not end the free year, see clause 25: the 365 days keep running and the first paid year is invoiced from the day they end. An organisation that grows past 50 students part way through its free year is asked to order, and is charged from the day it does rather than from the day it grew.
We do not switch an organisation off for passing either figure. We will tell you and ask you to order; nothing stops working while that conversation is had, and nothing is charged for a period before you order.
28. Changes to the Price, and to the Free Year
We may change the price, including increasing it. We will give your organisation at least 30 days’ written notice before a change takes effect, a change is never retrospective, and until it takes effect the old price applies. If you do not accept the new price, you may end your use of the platform before the change takes effect and pay nothing beyond what you owe at the old rate.
The free year described in clause 25 is a launch offer, available for a limited time. We may shorten, change, or withdraw it for organisations that have not yet started one. A free year already running is honoured on the terms it began on, for its full length.
29. Availability, Your Data and Our Liability
The platform is provided as it is and as available, see clause 3: we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of error, and no uptime guarantee or service credit is offered unless we have agreed one with you in writing. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything your organisation cannot afford to lose.
Clause 12 applies to the platform. Subject to its first paragraph, our total liability to your organisation in connection with the platform is limited to the amount your organisation paid for it in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and where nothing has been paid, which is every organisation still in its free year, to the £100 that clause 12 sets for a free service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data or teaching time.
Part E
MitsuruTech ColdStart
For anybody who has registered for the free coding competition, which is open to students enrolled at a post-secondary institution. Nothing is bought here, so most of what Part A says about booking and paying does not reach you, and no college stands behind your account. You must be 16 or over, and there is prize money going the other way.
30. The Competition, and Who This Part Applies To
MitsuruTech ColdStart (the “Competition”) is a free, online coding competition we run on Sunday 24 January 2027, lasting 120 minutes. This Part applies to you if you register for it. It is a competition of skill and not a lottery: entry is free, nothing is bought, and places are won by what you build rather than by chance.
Part A applies to you as well, except where this Part says otherwise, and where the two differ this Part wins for the Competition. Part D does not apply to you unless your college separately uses the learning platform: an entrant’s account is an individual one and no college stands behind it.
The Competition page states the same rules in plainer words, together with the environment you will be building in. Where that page and this Part differ, this Part governs, and we would rather you told us than found out afterwards.
31. Entering, and Who May Enter
You enter by registering on the Competition page with an email address you can read and by confirming that you are a student over 16. We email a link to that address; opening it confirms the address and makes your account, and there is no hurry, because the link works for two weeks. If you have not had it, look in your spam folder. You may also give a name or nickname, the university or college where you study, an age band and your timezone later, and we use them as the privacy policy says. There is nothing to pay at any stage.
- You must be 16 or over. We cannot accept a registration below that age, whoever asks, and we do not ask for or store a date of birth. This is the one age rule that applies to you: the 18+ requirement in clause 5 is about buying a service, and you are buying nothing.
- You must be a current student. The Competition is open to students currently enrolled in a full-time or part-time programme at a recognised post-secondary education institution: a university, further education college, polytechnic, technical institute or equivalent. That includes undergraduate degrees, foundation years, HNC and HND, BTEC Level 3 and above, T-Levels, Access to HE courses and national diplomas. Postgraduate students (master’s and doctoral) are not eligible.
- Winners show proof of enrolment. Before a prize is confirmed, a winner must show proof that they are enrolled as described above, and a prize may go to the next entry if they cannot.
- If you are under 18 you may enter and you may win. A parent or guardian must agree to a prize being paid and be present for the interview in clause 34 before we pay it.
- There is no limit on the number of entries for now.
- Individual entries only. There are no teams and no shared accounts, and you may not share code or outputs with anybody else during the event. Registering more than once, or entering through somebody else’s account, is a reason to disqualify every entry involved.
- Our own people cannot win. Employees, contractors and directors of Mitsuru Technologies Ltd, and members of their households, may take part for the interest of it but are not eligible for a prize.
32. What You May Use, and What Must Be Your Own
You may use any AI coding assistant and public online resources, including open-source libraries and public documentation. None of that is against the rules here, and we say so plainly because it is how the work is actually done. You must personally write, run and deploy your submission, and it must be built and deployed on our platform using the account we issue for the event.
What you may not do is hand in work that is not yours to hand in: somebody else writing it for you, an entry copied from another entrant, or a project you had already built before the clock started. You must be able to explain what you submitted and how it works, which is what the interview in clause 34 checks, and an entry you cannot explain is one we will not award a prize to.
33. The Environment, and Its Limits
You build and deploy on our platform, using the account issued to you for the event, and the limits that apply are published on the Competition page before you register rather than discovered on the day: how many times you may deploy, how long each deployment runs, and what the machine gives you. We publish them so you can plan around them, and we may adjust them in your favour on the day if something on our side goes wrong.
The platform is shared, and a build or a deployment may queue behind other entrants’. We will run the Competition in a way that keeps that fair, including in more than one sitting if entrants are spread across timezones, and the start time is published to everybody registered before the day. Clause 29 describes what we do and do not promise about availability, and it applies here.
34. Judging, and the Interview
Entries are judged first on whether they do what the task asked, then on measured performance, and then, where two are level, on how readable the code is. The measurement is taken after the deadline, on the same machine, with the same requests put to every entry that is correct.
The top three are interviewed over a video call before any prize is confirmed. It is a conversation about what you built and how, and it is where we confirm your age band and that the work is yours, and winners also show proof of enrolment as described in clause 31. A prize is not confirmed until that interview has happened and that proof has been shown. If you decline it, cannot be reached at the address you registered with within 14 days, or the interview does not satisfy us that the work is yours, we may award the prize to the next entry instead.
We judge in good faith and our decision is final. That does not affect your right to complain under clause 38 or any right you have as a consumer.
35. The Prizes
- First place: US$100.
- Second place: US$60.
- Third place: US$40.
Prizes are paid in US dollars by a method we agree with you after the interview. There is no alternative prize and no cash equivalent beyond the amount stated, because the prize is already cash. We pay the amount stated and deduct nothing; any tax or other obligation arising where you live is yours, and if you are unsure you should ask somebody who knows your own country’s rules.
Everybody who enters keeps their free account and the work they wrote, whether or not they win. That is not a prize and we do not describe it as one; it is simply what an account on this platform is.
36. Your Work, and What We May Say About It
What you write stays yours. We claim no ownership of your entry and clause 11 is about our materials, not yours. You may redeploy it, publish it, put it in a portfolio, or do anything else you like with it.
By entering you give us permission to do three narrow things: to run, store and test your entry so that it can be judged; to show the name or nickname you registered with on the Competition’s leaderboard and in any announcement of the results; and to describe publicly what the winning entries did. We will not publish your email address, your university or college, your age band, or your source code without asking you first.
If you would rather your name were not published, tell us before the results are announced and we will use an initial instead. It does not affect whether you can win.
37. Changing or Cancelling the Competition
If something on our side makes it impossible to run the Competition fairly on the day, we will say so and run it again rather than judge a broken one. Where we have to change the date, the start time or the limits, we will tell everybody registered at the address they gave. Your account is yours either way, and nothing you have built is lost.
We may disqualify an entry, or refuse a registration, where this Part has been broken, where somebody has interfered with the platform or with another entrant, or where an entry would be unlawful. We will tell you why, and clause 38 is how to complain about it.
Part F

- Severability: if any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in full force and effect.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under this contract without our consent; we may transfer our rights to another reputable provider, provided this does not reduce your protections under these Terms.
- Changes to these Terms: we may update these Terms from time to time; any changes will not apply retrospectively to a call or session you have already booked and paid for, or to a platform agreement already made. The date at the top of this page identifies the version you are reading.
