# MitsuruTech Learning Platform: pricing

> The first year is free for up to 50 students. After that a college pays a price per student, £300 a year for the first 50 and less per student as it grows. **Staff are always free.** Prices exclude VAT (20% in the United Kingdom).

## What is free

- **The first year** (365 days) is free for a college of up to 50 students.
- **Staff are free** at any size: teachers and administrators are never counted or charged.
- **The free lessons and labs** at https://mitsurutech.co.uk/resources are free to read without an account, and a free account has monthly free credit to run labs.

## What a college pays after the free year (pounds, a year, excluding VAT)

The first 50 students are one flat price of **£300**. Each student above that costs the rate of the band they fall in:

The rate falls at 100, 250, 400, 1000, 3000, 5000 students; each rate applies only to the students inside its band, so growing never makes the students you already have dearer.

- **Vocareum:** labs on real public cloud accounts and its AI Notebook.
- **CloudLabs:** virtual machines on Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or Oracle, in sizes up to 8 vCPUs and 16 GB, and custom machine sizes.

- **GitHub Classroom** was free and is no longer offered: "As of August 28, 2026, the GitHub Classroom service has been retired." (https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/205975).
- **CodeHS and Replit** publish no per-student price for schools, so no figure is quoted for them here.

## Discounts

- **20% off the first paid year** when a college signs before an agreed decision date.
- **10% off** a three-year commitment.
- **Founding customers:** 50% off for 2 years, in exchange for a case study.

## What "included" means

These cost money for every use, so each is included but metered and capped per person by the platform's own limits, which a college may raise at its own cost:

- AI help for staff and the AI tutor for students
- deploying apps, with their databases and cloud stacks
- labs of containers and Ubuntu VMs
- running and testing code

## How billing works

- Billed once a year, by invoice or by card. No card is needed for the free year.
- **Invoice:** invoiced in advance on the year's first day for the students then on the platform, and priced again at the year's end on the average number of students: students who joined are charged for their days and students who left are credited for theirs.
- **Card:** taken a twelfth at a time, on the students the college has that month.
- Staff accounts are free and are never counted.
- The price will not change without at least 30 days' notice, a change is never retrospective, and a three-year commitment fixes the price for the three years.
